Finally, I’ve started my blog. And let me tell you, it’s a strange time to be starting. I’ve been trying to find my footing in the web development world for a while now, but it’s been a rough ride. Last year, I found myself working for companies that didn’t light my fire, stuck in positions that left me feeling unfulfilled. But the year before that, I spent every waking moment devouring online resources and bootcamps, learning all I could about coding and web development.
I’ve got a pretty solid grasp on front-end development now, and building apps and websites brings me joy. But the jobs I’ve landed in the past just wanted me to focus on graphic design for print or take on a management role that left little room for actual development work. But I’ve been hustling, interviewing left and right. I had seven interviews last week, five more next week, and some second-rounds coming up. Fingers crossed that I’ll finally find a place where I can contribute quality work and learn from an experienced team.
Listen, for all you newbies out there trying to make it in this industry, don’t give up. Even though I’m still searching for that one opportunity that will set me up for good, this past year has taught me so much. I’ve had moments where I thought I couldn’t make it, but I kept pushing through and each job has been better than the last. Keep at it, and good things will come.
